At Maps, we are committed to helping our members and community understand and manage their finances to reach financial goals. Information and education are essential to building financial fitness, which is why we provide complimentary workshops for our community.

We offer several workshops per month that are led by expert speakers, from either our own internal departments or community partners, and cover many topics including:

  • Financial basics: Budgeting, savings, taxes

  • Investments: Retirement planning, estate planning, college savings, long-term care planning

  • Mortgages: Home buying seminars

  • Professional development: Careers, resumes, interviewing, personal branding

While many classes are offered online in the comfort of your own home, we also strive to provide in-person events whenever possible. These free in-person events are meant to bring the experts to you in a less intimidating environment. We recommend attending in-person workshops when they are available because they are a great opportunity to get face-to-face with our department personnel.

For example, attending a Home Buying Seminar will put you in front of one of our knowledgeable mortgage loan officers. Even if you aren't ready to buy a house right now, it benefits you to learn the subject matter and the people who work in the department – and create a connection. When you are ready to buy that house down the road, you'll know who to talk to and the next steps to take. At these in-person events, experts stick around to answer additional questions and speak with attendees.

Have you seen our Fermentation and Financial Education classes? A few of our recent classes were titled Malts & Mortgages and Brewing a Better Budget. For these events we partner with community locations to educate attendees about a variety of topics (mortgages, insurance, taxes, investments, basic budgeting) in a comfortable environment where you can also enjoy a beverage. This can be a more lighthearted and easy way to get started on your financial fitness journey.

When you're ready to attend a class, check our website where we always have our upcoming events listed. We recommend signing up at least two weeks prior, to be sure you get a seat – there are limits to how many people can attend each in-person event!

We also recommend you follow us on social media (Facebook and Instagram) so that you'll be sure to get information about any upcoming events. We consistently post about events as they get closer, so you won't miss it.

Our members' financial well-being is of central importance to our mission. We care about the overall financial health and wellness of each member, both at these events and beyond. When you attend one of our events, we become part of your financial journey – and that doesn't stop when the workshop ends. We want our education to deliver actual results in changes to both your financial behavior and financial situation.

On that note, if there are topics you'd like to hear about, but don't see them on the schedule, we want to show up for you. It's important to us that we deliver the financial education you want. Message us at [email protected] with your ideas today!
