Maps Credit Union is proud to be a sponsor of the 9th Annual Crystal Apple Awards hosted by the Woodburn Area Chamber of Commerce. The awards will be presented November 30, 2012, at the Woodburn Health Center.

The Crystal Apple Awards recognize and honor professionals within the education system who live out excellence and have a positive impact in the lives of those they come in contact with on a daily basis. That includes teachers, administrators, and office support staff who are actively involved in the success of our children.

On November 30, four Maps employees will join the 60+ nominees and their excited families as we honor and celebrate the accomplishments they have achieved and the positive effects they have had within their community. The nominees include professionals from the Woodburn School District, St. Luke School, North Marion School District, Lord High School, and Gervais School District.

You may be asking yourself, well now, how would I qualify for nomination? Great question! According to Woodburn’s Crystal Apple Award guidelines, here is how the nomination process works:
Nominees must be current full or part-time employees and must have been employed with his/her respective district/school a minimum of three years. Staff members, community members, parents and students are encouraged to nominate any teacher, administrator, or support staffer who reflects the spirit of Crystal Apple — living out their work and life with these characteristics:
  1. Values and celebrates diversity.
  2. Builds positive, trusting, and respectful relationships with students, families, fellow staff members and the community.
  3. Promotes and models lifelong learning as the key to the students’ future success.
  4. Promotes involvement and partnership between school and home
Nominees will be judged on how their daily work reflects and supports the above criteria. A selection committee composed of business representatives, parents, students and school staff members will review them.

We at Maps congratulate all of those who have been nominated — it is a great award and a heartfelt pat on the back of a job well done by colleagues and community members. We look forward to celebrating a job well done on November 30.

Crystal Apple Awards happen all over our Willamette Valley Basin, so if you know someone who you believe should be recognized by this great event, go to any search engine and type in “Crystal Apple” and their school district. I encourage you to say thank you to an educational professional in the form of a Crystal Apple nomination — it is a great honor!
