Individual Development Accounts (IDA)
Maps Community Foundation is offering a limited number of Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) to qualifying students each year to support post-secondary education. IDA funds can be used for trade schools, community college and/or four-year university – all accredited educational institutions.
What is an IDA?
An IDA is a matched savings program in which seniors in high school agree to save a certain amount (generally $500-$1,000) and then are matched 5:1 and can use this funding to support their continuing education.
Who’s eligible?
- Must be 16 years or older to apply
- Must be a current Oregon resident
- Must have a source of earned income
- Preference is given to students living in Marion and/or Polk Counties
- A certain number of IDA saver spots are designated each year for high school students living in rural communities, working with our Maps high school branch at West Salem High School, or connected to community partners including the Salem-Keizer School District’s AVID program, the Boys and Girls Club of Salem, Marion, and Polk Counties, and the Salem Dream Center.
- Must meet specific income requirements or automatically qualify based on participation in an eligible public benefit program, including SNAP and others.
What’s needed to apply?
- A valid government-issued Oregon ID
- 1 month of current pay stubs for all income earners in the household, or a letter that verifies employment.
